West Columbia, SC (June 1, 2012)—Allied Air has been awarded the Bronze Award for Excellence in Design (EID) Award in the HVAC category by appliance DESIGN magazine for its Constant Torque furnaces.
The annual EID awards, open to product manufacturers, industrial design firms and product development firms worldwide, recognize outstanding achievements in innovation, design and functionality. To qualify, product designs must meet consumer needs while achieving a high level of visual appeal and functionality. The recently released Allied Air Constant Torque furnaces (November 2011) were honored in the EID Awards’ HVAC category.
“We are thrilled to receive this prestigious award for our latest heating product offering,” said Scott MacMurdo, Allied Air heating product manager. “With the addition of Constant Torque technology, our new furnace line increases overall cooling efficiency by up to two SEER points when applied as part of a complete system, offering year-round energy savings to consumers at a far more affordable price point.”
Additional savings through energy-efficiency rebates and other incentives offered by local utility companies may also be available to homeowners in some regions.
Engineered to provide greater efficiency and comfort benefits than PSC units, the Constant Torque furnace line uses ECM motor technology to operate more efficiently—with 25% fewer watts at cooling speeds and up to 75% fewer watts at fan-only speeds—providing more even temperatures and eliminating hot and cold spots for consistent, continuous comfort. A brushless motor design—and the ability to generate less heat during runtime operation than PSC motors—ensures greater reliability over time. Additionally, the furnace’s innovative motor technology and quiet, fan-on operation mode delivers improved airflow—even in less-than-optimum duct configurations.
Along with improved performance and increased cost and energy savings, Allied Air’s Constant Torque furnaces offer simpler installation, servicing and troubleshooting than furnaces using PSC motors, with no additional setup time required. Constant Torque furnaces also improve the effectiveness of indoor air quality (IAQ) products, giving homeowners extra incentive to add filtration equipment to their purchase.
Constant Torque furnaces are available at either 95 or 80 percent AFUE from any of Allied Air’s four brands – Armstrong Air®, AirEase®, Ducane™ and Concord®.
Allied Air’s constant torque furnaces and other 2012 EID winners will be profiled in the June 2012 issue of appliance DESIGN. For more information, visit the magazine’s award page at http://www.appliancedesign.com/eid.
